Starting to Hate Snow
☾ Last Sunday, it snowed for about 30 hours straight and theres still snow on the ground as I type this. We're supposed to get even more snow today, over the weekend, and some next week. Please. I am a simple Californian. Please don't torture me like this, weather. I started to go bonkers in my apartment because I couldn't take my dog out on longer walks because I'm scared of black ice everywhere on the ground. Today enough snow melted and we went on a longer morning and afternoon walk.
☾ I've also got the final due date for the Eastern Europe Zine coming up Friday or Saturday and...err, I haven't even gotten a response that the mods received my last two check-ins so I have no idea if it's happening or not. Might as well just send in my final draft. Would they even know I sent it in? It's a shame. My fic is straight-up fun sibling shenanigans too, which I don't think I've ever written. Kinda just want to get it over with at this point because there's so many other things I want to write instead.
☾ I picked up With Fire and Sword from the library the other day and the translation I got is...interesting to say the least. Especially the way that the names are somewhat Anglicized are really weird to read. Jan is Yan and Jeremi is Yeremi and Jagiełło is Yag...you get my point. Don't even get me started on how the last names look. I'm only around three chapters in, but the translation is so strange that I'm half tempted to just order the Polish version and attempt to slog through it. I read the first few pages of the Polish version on an Amazon sample and my God is that more clear to read.
☾ On a similar note, I found a book about pre-Columbian Mexican myths at the library too, and I might switch over to that if I can't get through With Fire and Sword.
☾ I'm trying to 100% all three Spyro games on the Reignited Trilogy for the PS4. It's been a fun ride so far and made me deeply nostalgic. I loved all three games as a kid. So far, I've finished Spyro the Dragon and Ripto's Rage, and I've almost finished Year of the Dragon. It's a very pretty game, but I'm currently stuck on this godawful skateboarding minigame that's full of glitches and for the life of me, I can't finish. The game came out in November, and I hope that they would've patched it by now but Jesus.

RE: the zine, it's kind of odd that they didn't acknowledge that they received your check-ins. Maybe after sending the final draft, try to contact them on another platform (discord?) to see what's up.
Your library's copy of With Fire and Sword sounds like the one I tried to read at one point. :'D It sounds like trying the Polish definitely might be a good idea, if you can get hold of it.

I'll try to contact them if nothing happens after the final draft. However, it's not just me, but I know quite a few others who've emailed files and haven't gotten any response. I'm curious if they haven't been checking the email regularly. Ah well.
I'm a bit surprised that American Amazon carries the Polish version for only 16 bucks. :D Maybe I'll order that some time.

This is very likely, now that you mention it, especially if the mod forgot to set up email forwarding. :|a I know I've been guilty of this with modding, heh. Still not great, but if it IS that, then at least it's likely everything will proceed as planned.
